You could say that I have become a bit of a blogger. Yes, I do this blog once a week, but every week - for several months now - I have also been blogging at work, in my day job.
Where does the inspiration come from?
It is pretty easy to find things to write about when it comes to working at Whitlingham Country Park. There is heaps of inspiration on a daily basis, whether it's a new project or development, café news, wildlife, weather, events... there's never a dull moment, even when the clouds descend over the Great Broad.
Today, even the photocopier was giving us bizarre rainbows on our documents! I mean, that isn't blog worthy, but it was certainly a quirk of the day. Even the maintenance man said he'd never seen that happen before.

It certainly helped that these blogs ended up shared to our social media too, but this is what has got people clicking, reading and engaging recently:
Taking the third most read spot: 71 views
This proved to capture the imaginations, and rumbling stomachs, of locals and visitors from further afield. The cream tea deal last Friday had people flocking to the Flint Barn, mouths salivating! And poor me, I had to sample a delicious scone in order to take a photo of it.

Halloween-style Hedgerows caused quite a stir.
There was mystery in the air. These spooky webs were being spotted all over the place, being featured on the national news, and getting people properly intrigued. I even had an email at work from someone who told me they had seen the same phenomenon in Ireland! I hope they'll take a trip to Norfolk some time. We do love a far-flung visitor here.
And claiming the top spot: 145 views
It seems you just cannot beat a real human story... plus the fact we have a small army of volunteers at Whitlingham who were likely all sharing this and telling all their friends and family to read it. Thanks guys. You're legends.
In all seriousness, it's people that are interesting to people. Emotions, interests, activities, wants, needs... human life is always going to pique interest. It makes people feel something and people can't help but connect. I personally had no trouble connecting to the idea of a delicious cream tea treat, but it's not on the same level as this. Everyone can relate to this. The joy of togetherness, hard work, camaraderie and the satisfaction of effort and reward.

What do you like to read about? What gets you interested? Let me know! Keep an eye on the Whitlingham news page to see what's happening next at the park. Oooh, there's some really great stuff coming up soon. Can't wait to share it all! Until next time...
