I feel like a sponge soaking up all the writing I see around me every day, and wanted to give credit to the person responsible for this in a world of vanilla advertising. Bravo!

The Assembly House do the best afternoon tea*, have the best setting to escape from the city while still in the city, and now I'll add the most engaging socials I've spotted in recent times too. I spotted this post earlier in the week. Love it.

Why did this post catch my eye?

  1. The C word in May (no, I don't mean that one)

  2. The chatty and friendly style, right from the off

  3. Referencing prior knowledge of prices and info, making me feel like I have been missing out on being in the special club who know about this already -- but in an inviting way

  4. Long post, yes, but I wanted to read all of it. The sign of great writing

  5. Après Ski: But not a mountain in sight in Norwich! 😂 That made me smile

Yep, there was even more to this lengthy post:

And still more:

Must be some sort of cake induced fairy magic going on because I am well and truly seduced and need ALL of this in my life!

Have you seen a piece of writing that has drawn you in recently? More importantly, have you booked your igloo? Either way, let me know, and we can chat tea and cake.

*As someone who has consumed an awful lot of afternoon tea in my time... trust me, I know what a good one looks like, and tastes like! There's no style over substance going on here.

Thank you! I am, it must be said, the John Lewis of copywriting: Never Knowingly Underwritten.

It helped that before I was Director at The Assembly House, I was Chief Writer at the Eastern Daily Press in Norfolk for 30 years, won UK Columnist of the Year seven times and was East Anglian Marketer of the Year in 2019. Not that I like to talk about it or show off. Oh no. Thanks again, praise from the praiseworthy is high praise indeed, love The Assembly House
