🤔 A start has an end?

Thinking of that 2007 Editors tune 'An End Has a Start' - surely there is generally something else after an end, but what about the other way round? What about when a start doesn't actually... start? A dead end then, it seems.
How to begin
If you want to start something new, you have to put a the work in, of course. It would be pretty rare for an opportunity to just fall into your lap one day and be a great success - but what do you do to get that unicorn of experience that companies evidently want?

What constitutes experience?
So, I have been a teacher in my previous working existence. This insanely challenging role is famously rammed full of copious amounts of writing for a wide range of audiences and purposes including:
children (that truly demand a lot of persuasion and excitement!)
parents/carers
colleagues and leaders
other visiting professionals
educational content for direct teaching as well as home learning (questions, worksheets, presentations, videos, documents, displays, props...)
That in itself, along with the sheer range of subject areas covered at primary level, is surely a LOT of experience, no?

Then there's all the writing I have done for a charity in my latest paid existence:
funding bids
web copy
creation of education resources
emailing, including marketing
advertisements
blog posts
press releases
newsletters
instructional copy
proofreading and editing
...and much more!
More valid and varied experience, right?
What's the problem then?
How to get a foot in the door...
Answers on a proverbial postcard please!🤞
Yours,
Skilled writer with so much to give
